Towns and villages - Live in the Far North
We present here some villages and towns in the Far North region. More information about Maroua, the capital of the region, you will find on this extra link. Djinglia 15 km from Mokolo, on the Col de Koza, one of the most impressive scenic roads of Cameroon, lies the small village Djinglia. Coming from Mokolo, you will find on the entrance of the village the Centre Artisanal of the artisan's cooperative of Djinglia. The restaurant offers a beautiful view over the fascinating mountain scenery. You can sleep here too. Get a local tour guide for a hiking tour in the surrounding mountains. Oudjilla From From Mora, a steep winding road leads to the mountain village of Oudjilla (800 m). The main tourist attraction is the Chefferie with a tradition of 200 years. The head of the Podoko lives here with about 50 women (he is the father of several 100 children) in a huge traditional Saré. Each of the wives has her own hut, two stores and a kitchen. A guided visit of the Saré costs about 6,000 CFA francs and takes about 1.5 hours.

Mora About an hour's drive away from Maroua lies Mora. Mora is best known for its market held every Sunday - one of the most colorful of Cameroon. Mora is connected to Mokolo by the Col de Koza and is the ideal starting point for trips to Oudjilla and Djinglia. Mokolo The small town is the center of the Mafa and is surrounded by hills and mountains of the Mandara Mountains. Mokolo is a great stopover on the way to Rhumsiki, Oudjilla and Djinglia (Col de Koza). |
