How to get to the Far North?
By airplane to Cameroon or Tchad: National flights are offered between Yaoundé/Douala and Maroua (airline AirLeasing). Due to frequent schedule changes, you should inform yourself. The airport Maroua Salak is about 20km away from Maroua. Arrange a pickup with your hotel or take a taxi. By train and bus to Maroua: There is a night train connection between Yaoundé and N’Gaoundéré (06:00 p.m. local time). You can choose between1st and 2nd class or sleeping car. From N’Gaoundéré you can catch the bus to Maroua. If you arrive in N'Djamena, you can contact SINTOURDIA to organize a collection service, or take a bus to Maroua from the Cameroonian border town Kousseri (just across the bridge from N'Djamena). Being mobile in the Far-North Region: Rent a 4X4 with driver and travel independently and individually. You will also find busses of different sizes and quality.
